My latest find was a big blue and white spongeware bowl for $2.50. I've shied away from this look in the past, worried it looked too country. And while I have no plans to amass a collection like this one below, I am finding the need to find more pieces. It would make for a fun table on the 4th or a bowl filled with lemons would be so pretty. Lately, I've just been making summer salads in my bowl. I think these two images show how fresh spongeware can look without going too country.

Spongeware
True Confession: Sometimes I slip away from the office at lunchtime and sneak into our local Salvation Army. I have found some really wonderful gems in there. My friend, Katie, from high school, who is a teacher and also owns her own stationery business (and has twins - beyond impressed with her energy!), recently posted about using a recipe out of a $1 cookbook she found at Goodwill. So I know I'm not alone.

I like to stop in at Sally Ann's myself. You never know what little treasure you might find! xoxo
Oh, I like it in those photos--a chic spin on spongewear, hehe! And yes, I love stopping into Goodwill from time to time and scouring the racks!
That looks amazing - I'm a total sucker for anything blue & white, so I would feel right at home in that house! I'm one to scour some of those spots, too, for a good deal. :)
Aw, thanks for the love, Tiff! ;) It's funny you posted this b/c I've seen these around, too, and thought the same exact thing- don't want to become too country or have a "collection" as that usually goes wrong with me. Same goes for blue/white china. It's usu. everywhere and then ends up in my garage sale or donation boxes!
I love it and consider it a classic, especially when paired with more modern pieces.
It is so ironic that you posted this because I have been thinking about hitting up the Goodwill. I feel some hidden treasures may be calling my name :)
